Data Migration Assistant

Data Migration Assistant (DMA) is tool for detects compatibility issue that can impact database functionality on your new version of SQL. Database Migration Assistant replaces the previous SQL Server Upgrade Advisor tool.

We have got SQL Server 2008R2 at work and we plan migrate to SQL Server 2016. I use this Microsoft Tool every day, if our databases are compatible with SQL 2016 and I can definitely recommend. DMA show you 3 types of problems:

1) Breaking changes = Critical

2) Behavior changes = Warning

3) Deprecated features = Information

Every issue is discussed in detail, Tool writes where is problem like object(View,Store Procedures, etc), number of line, recommendations for repair and help on MSDN.
